IMO adopted ALAM’s detailed training syllabus as the model course for LNG Liquid Cargo Operations Simulator (LICOS) training at STW 38 Sub-committee meeting;
Launched the worlds first e-Learning on LNG shipping operations which as at to date has been subscribed by over 200 users worldwide including 160 licenses by United States Coast Guards;

ALAM celebrated its 100th Convocation Ceremony on 16 February 2009
ALAM became Marine Partners with IMarEST
ALAM was appointed as a member of a working committee of SIGTTO for developing Competency Tables for Steam Engineers onboard LNG tankers
At STW 40 sub-committee meeting, ALAM co-sponsored all five tables of competencies for tanker training, under the revision of Chapter V of STCW, together with Norway, Netherlands and Denmark administrations. ALAM also co-sponsored Electro-Tech Officer table of competencies, for Chapter III of STCW, together with UK MCA, Poland & Iran;
ALAM signed an MoU with MOKPO National Maritime University (MMU), South Korea mainly to collaborate on staff and student exchange programmes, annual visit from its training ship and provision of cadet/ faculty training berth on MMU training ship;
ALAM entered into an MoU with Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), People’s Republic of China mainly to collaborate on staff and student exchange programmes, exchange and joint development of training programmes and exchange of information and knowledge;
ALAM Cadets participated in Summer Camp 2009 at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT);
DNV Contributed Navigator and Superman for use in Ship's Documentation and superintendents training simultaneously;
Bureau Veritas (BV) contributed Veristar Chemical software for use in ALAM's LICOS Training for chemical tankers; |

ALAM CEO awarded Maritime Trainer of the Year Award at the 9th Sailor Today Sea and Shore awards India;
Signed Memorandum of Agreement with Wavelink Maritime International Singapore for collaboration in areas of programmes and to work together in providing qualified trainers to conduct various modules of the programmes offered in ALAM;
Signed MOU with Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) Philipines, to strengthen business between both parties in terms of cooperation and to exchange ideas in the areas of mutual interest;
Signed MOU with Cryostar SAS to conduct LNG related training for Cryostar at ALAM campus and to establish new training programmes on joint basis;
ALAM student at USMMA received the Gold Star Best Academic Awards;
